Christmas Hustle

This time of year is typically spent scrubbing every inch of my house so the company that visits my tree has an unrealistic view of how I live day to day. We have a clean home but dog hair lives here, toys are scattered and sometimes the dishes dont get done right away. Our home is lived in. I am here to announce that this year I am okay with this. You are welcome to visit but I will not stress about impersonating Martha Stewart when you come.

The perfect tree. My 5 yo daughter is the person in this house who is the most excited for christmas traditions and festivities. Who am I to crush her heart for “fixing” the awesomely imperfect job she did at decorating our christmas tree. I want her to know I value her efforts and do actually love her vision. I will remember her little voice saying “mommie put these ones on top so they dont get broken”. Handmade special ornaments from the kids are my new breakables. I embrace that.

Cooking. Oh the unrealistic expectation that you must cook short breads, squares, candie, peanut butter balls. @dianesdecadents thanks for doing my baking this year because I dont have the time.

Christmas is about spending time with family. So yes I will schedule that potluck! Keyword potluck! This way the stress isnt on me alone to be the hostess with the mostest.

Yes we will give back to those in need. We are blessed to have this opportunity. SJRCC medical staff will be serving hot chocolate and cookies to the men of Outflow mens shelter next wednesday. If you have anything in your pantry to donate to theirs let me know and I will come grab it!! We are still looking for more!

So I challenge you to enjoy christmas this year. Spend time with your loved ones. Give back to your community. Support those in need. Dont stress about the small stuff. People already know I am no Martha Stewart so I am not going to pretend to be.
