Family means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. I have my “original” family: my mom, dad, brother & sister; my family: Blake and the kids; but I am also blessed to have a group of girls (and guys) that have been present in my life for the past 20 + years. We have been through many highs and lows together and the only way to adequately and precisely describe them is family. With Blake working today I was blessed to have the opportunity to meet up with a few of them today!
BUT.. you know what made it extra special to me. They have all became moms recently! I was the first homegirl to pop out a baby and the transition (like how it altered our relationships) was tough. Definitely non-intentional on their part and no one would have noticed because the only person’s life who changed was mine. I know some people can relate to me and know what I am talking about. When you are the only one in the group who has wee ones things change– they just do!
So one of my friends has a 18ish month old, the other has a 3 month old and the other a newborn. Watching each of them become moms is so amazing to me. I am beyond proud of each and every one of them. They are amazing mommies and I am so glad my playdates now include spending time with them. Not to knock the amazing mom-friends I have met along the way. I cherish my new friendships.
Let me know how you spent your family day if you reside in New Brunswick!
