Let’s talk about what makes life “rich”

After sleeping all day from night shift and snoozing at bedtime with the kids I am finally getting around to write this post I was inspired to write this morning when I got home from work.

What makes a person rich.

Dictionary.com defines rich as

“having wealth or great possessions; abundantly supplied with resources, means, or funds; wealthy:a rich man; a rich nation.“
“abounding in natural resources:a rich territory.“

A friend of mine made a post on Facebook this morning

My response was ” I think you just described the life of a rich man”

I don’t think wealth or material possessions or an abundance of natural resources is an accurate description of what makes a person rich. I think that love happiness health and opportunity to be who YOU want to be makes you rich.

Listening to my kids giggle and play everyday ….

Having love and respect and commitment and support from my life partner…. my husband

Having the BEST group of friends a person could ask for fueled by 20+ years of history and stories…

Being a registered nurse. A profession I respect so much and am so proud to be a part of….

I am a rich woman.

I challenge you to think about what makes your life rich… It is time to stop trying to keep up with the Jones’s and just appreciate the little blessings in everyday.

Maybe it is the strong family you have surrounding you.

Maybe it’s a gift you have.. to sing or act, be an activist, make a difference.

Maybe it’s the freedom to travel the world..

Not going to lie.. having more money makes life easier BUT having it isn’t what a rich life is based upon. Ponder that..

I could have all the money in the world … and be poor.

Without the kids and Blake. My ability to be a nurse and make a difference in what matters to me.. I would not consider my life to be rich.. I would yearn for more. You know what?! I don’t yearn for more today.. I am happy.
