Dew Drops

Ekphrasis Poem by Holly Richards

Water cascades from heavy clouds,

                emotions weighty.

It’s drowning

                overwhelming thoughts.

Soaked soil,        drinking

                sullen and sinking.

Warm sun dries the soil,

                                gets up while

new blossoms emerge—

alas, the light shines from within,

indication of the storm withers

                as only dew drops remain.
